Review: Mac Bare Study Paint Pot

Mac Paint Pot in Bare Study $17.50

Back in November I got Mac's Bare Study Paint Pot as a gift. It is light and shimmery and has made its way into my everyday eye makeup routine. It's pretty sheer and looks alright alone(other than being a tad glittery-looking) but it sometimes creases when I don't have a shadow over it so I usually just put a light shimmery peach over top (my all-time favorite is Bare Mineral's shadow in blush).
left to right: Bare Study alone, Bare Study with Urban Decay's Baked pigment shadow on top, Baked alone

Where Bare Study really shines (literally...:)) is when you put a relatively unpigmented shadow on top like my Urban Decay Baked pigment that is super subtle unless used wet. In the above swatches I put the same amount of shadow on each swatch and rubbed the excess off- it's quite clear that Bare Study made a huge difference! With a shadow on top I usually don't have any issues with fading or creasing and the color stays vibrant all day (I usually only wear neutral colors).

Why do I like it better set with a shadow? Simple. The Paint Pot sometimes doesn't completely set on my oily lids without the powder soaking up all the excess oils in the product making it last longer.

Is it worth it? Maybe. I actually had a deluxe sample of Benefit's Creaseless Cream Shadow in R.S.V.P. a while back and it went a lot farther and it completely set almost right away. I also liked the color better and could wear it alone because it wasn't glittery. I doubt it was as good as the Paint Pot at being a base and grabbing onto shadows but I still feel like it fit my routine better at the time. Nowadays I like the shadow grabbing qualities of the Paint Pot and the color and creaselessness (new made up words are fun right?) of the Benefit one. Basically, when I run out I'll be on the lookout for something that both looks good on its own, doesn't crease whatsoever and  makes my shadows more vibrant. Any suggestions?
